Paulson Institute-CCIEE CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization Addresses Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Buildings and Clean Technology

The Paulson Institute and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges today co-hosted the second annual meeting of its CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization to assess and build on the progress made by the Council over the past year.

During today’s meeting, the CEOs continued to address issues at the heart of the Council’s mission: finding concrete solutions that will help China achieve its historic urbanization goals in an environmentally sustainable way.

Since its inception in November 2014, the Council has launched a landmark sustainable building project, published a building-code roadmap, developed a digital environmental awareness campaign aimed at Chinese millennials, and launched a series of case studies highlighting best practices in sustainable business, energy, finance and housing, as well as other research about efficient buildings and energy reform.

“I believe that business can and must play a role in solving some of our greatest challenges, such as climate change, which presents huge economic and human risks to our planet,” said Paulson Institute Chairman Henry M. Paulson, Jr. “As China goes full-force with an ambitious sustainable urbanization agenda, our Council is seizing opportunities to help ensure its success. Helping China transition to a low-carbon economy is in our shared interest.”

“This Council brings together US and Chinese companies to work together with the government to solve environmental and development challenges, and such collaboration will make a significant contribution to helping to achieve our sustainable urbanization goals,” said CCIEE Chairman Zeng Peiyan.
