As the Senior Content Manager at the Paulson Institute’s think tank, Graham Chamness works closely with MacroPolo’s research team on analysis and content. Graham also works directly with the Managing Director and Associate Director in shaping and executing the research agenda and compelling products for our audience. His own writing focuses on issues relating to Chinese culture, politics, and national identity.

Before joining the Paulson Institute, Graham was a professor of Chinese language, literature, and culture. He has taught at Kalamazoo College, MIT, and Boston University. He holds a PhD in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University, and an MA and BA in Chinese and the Classics, respectively, from the University of Colorado, Boulder. While completing his doctoral program at Harvard, he was lead content editor for the MOOC “ChinaX,” which tells the history of China from the beginnings of Chinese civilization to the present. Graham is fluent in Mandarin and reads literary Chinese as well as Japanese.
