As part of our ongoing effort to explore economically sensible and politically realistic United States-China investment opportunities, the Paulson Institute hosted a delegation from China’s Ministry of Agriculture and several private Chinese livestock and organic fertilizer companies. Other participants included senior agriculture economists, livestock and soft commodity experts from CME Group and Purdue University, among others. Representatives from the State of Nebraska were also in attendance.
The lively roundtable covered current and future trends in the US livestock and poultry sectors, as well as some of the pressures faced by the Chinese agriculture system. Understanding these key issues in both countries will help companies and investors in thinking through potential cross-border investment opportunities and generating new ideas.
