The Paulson Institute’s Elle Carberry, a managing director in the Beijing office, moderated a panel on Driving Compliance Innovation and Maximizing Co-Control at a conference on Sept. 29 hosted by the International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (INECE) and the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences. Panelists included L.G., Chen, Chairman of the Taiwan Environmental Sustainable Development Foundation; Wang Tao, General Manager of Shougang Jingtang Steel Factory; Freya Burton, Communications Director at LanzaTech; and Zhang Jianyu, Managing Director at the Environmental Defense Fund.
The panelists discussed integrated strategies to reduce climate and air pollutants together in ways that create economic and regulatory efficiencies, drive innovation, and deliver climate co –benefits. The proposed solutions include market mechanisms and other incentives, private supply chain compliance, public-private cooperation, and next-generation compliance systems and technologies.
