Yukon Huang Talks China’s Growing West at Paulson Institute

The Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago, in collaboration with the Harris School of Public Policy, launched its new Contemporary China Speakers Series on October 17 with a talk from Yukon Huang. The monthly series will bring experts from across professions, perspectives and disciplines—including from academia, government, think tanks, journalism and industry—to the University of Chicago’s Hyde Park campus for stimulating talks and discussions on contemporary China.

Kicking off the series was Yukon Huang, Senior Associate in the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC and the Financial Times “A-List” commentator on the Chinese economy. Huang was previously the World Bank’s Country Director for China.

Talks in the series will cover a range of topics spanning economics, politics, business, culture, society and foreign policy, among others. The goal of the series is to deepen the understanding of a rising yet complicated China and the implications for the United States, Asia and the world.
