The Paulson Institute, with offices in downtown Chicago and Beijing, China has an immediate opportunity for a communications professional to join our global Communications team. Through our work on conservation and green finance issues, we strive to foster a US-China relationship that serves to maintain global order in a rapidly evolving world. The Communications Specialist will have a voice in setting and executing on our content and event marketing strategy. This role will work closely with the conservation, green finance, and leadership teams to produce and market original content and events promoting the work of the Paulson Institute. Come join us!

The Communications Specialist will play a key role in driving communications efforts and in shaping the event strategy for the Paulson Institute. As part of a global Communications team, this position will build on existing work and explore new topic areas and content delivery channels to grow target audiences for the programs and initiatives at the Paulson Institute. You’ll be expected to bring your solutions and creative content ideas to the table to create high-quality content for our programs and initiatives. This position will report directly to the Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Conservation and Green Finance teams in the publication of research and articles, including developing multimedia and other content distribution efforts
  • Conceptualize and create content, graphics, and other effective presentation for social media, the PI website, and other platforms
  • Edit content for the website and social media, while upholding our branding standards
  • Gather data and prepare reports analyzing social media and marketing efforts
  • Actively support the development, marketing, and production of in-person and virtual events for our leadership, conservation, green finance, and think tank teams
  • Assist with Mailchimp for external email lists and internal newsletter
  • In coordination with Communications team, help develop and execute on media calendar and editorial calendar


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 2+ years’ experience in a related field
  • Highly proficient with multiple media platforms, web analytics, and email marketing tools
    • Technical skills, such as WordPress, SEO, data visualization, multimedia
    • Experience with event software such as Streamyard, video and audio editing software and the Adobe Suite; design platforms such as Canva; email software such as Mailchimp, and website platforms such as WordPress a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Willingness to propose ideas for marketing and event rollouts
  • Detail-oriented, timely, and proactive
  • Must be able to work independently in a hybrid work environment
